Dozers do the work that decides a project's programme — bulk push, site preparation, land forming, reclamation. They are also the machines where undercarriage condition most brutally determines whether a purchase makes money.
This is the first specification question in this market and buyers get it wrong constantly. LGP (Low Ground Pressure) machines run wider tracks and a wider gauge, spreading weight so the dozer floats on soft sand and fill instead of sinking. On typical UAE sand, reclamation fill and desert terrain, LGP is usually the right answer. Standard and XL configurations give better traction and stability on firm ground and rock, and are more productive where the material supports the machine.
An LGP machine on rock wears out quickly. A standard machine on soft sand cannot get traction. Buying the wrong one is an expensive mistake that no amount of operator skill corrects.
Straight, semi-U, U and angle blades each suit different work — U blades carry more material for long pushes, angle blades cast material sideways for road forming and windrowing. Rear-mounted rippers matter where you will meet cemented sand or rock; a single-shank ripper handles harder material, multi-shank is faster in softer. A winch instead of a ripper suits recovery and pipeline work.
Undercarriage first and measured, reported as remaining life. Then final drives and steering clutches or differential steer — these are major-cost items and their symptoms (tracking crooked, uneven steering response) are easy to detect and easy to ignore. Blade lift and tilt cylinders for weeping and rod scoring, blade mounting and push arm welds for cracks, and engine and hydraulic oil analysis. Cold start on video: a dozer that starts hard has a story.
