Used boom trucks and truck mounted cranes

A boom truck carries its own load and lifts it off — which for service, installation and delivery work removes an entire vehicle and an entire mobilisation from the job.

Typical UAE duty

Equipment delivery and placement, MEP and services installation, sign and street furniture work, utility maintenance, and general site service work. Also common in oilfield and industrial service where a crew needs transport, tools and lifting in one unit.

Configuration

Telescopic and knuckle-boom (articulating) cranes suit different work. Telescopic gives straight reach and better capacity at radius. Knuckle boom folds compactly behind the cab, leaving more deck space for load, and reaches into awkward positions — better for delivery work where the deck matters.

Deck length and payload determine what the truck carries, and there is a trade-off: a larger crane eats deck space and payload. Buy for the balance you actually need rather than the largest crane on the smallest chassis, which is a common and unsatisfactory combination.

Inspection

Boom structure and extension, winch and rope, hook and block. Outriggers and their hydraulics. Crane mounting to the chassis and the subframe — this is a stress concentration and a place where fatigue cracking appears. Load chart, load moment indicator and safety systems. Certification status and date. Then the truck conventionally.
