Where crawler machines win
Low ground pressure across tracks keeps the machine working on loose sand and fill where a wheeled unit would bog or lose stability. The tracked base also gives you the lifting stability that matters on pipe laying, precast setting and anything involving a load on the hook. On sustained earthworks the tracked machine simply moves more material per hour.
Size classes and typical UAE duty
- 13–18 tonne — utilities, confined sites, light foundations
- 20–30 tonne — the general-purpose class: bulk excavation, foundations, loading, most civil contracts
- 30–45 tonne — sustained bulk earthworks, quarry loading, heavy demolition
- 45 tonne and above — mass excavation and mining duty, where the hourly output justifies the running cost
Undercarriage is the purchase decision
On a crawler machine the undercarriage is the largest single wear cost over its life and the fastest way to turn a good buy into a bad one. We measure rather than estimate: link pitch, bushing wear, idler and roller condition, sprocket tooth profile and track tension, reported as remaining percentage life. In abrasive UAE sand, undercarriage wears faster than the published schedules assume, so track guards and correct tensioning matter more here than the manuals suggest.

Slew ring play, boom and stick weld condition, pin and bushing wear at every joint, cylinder rod scoring, and travel motor performance — a machine that tracks crooked under no load has a travel motor or final drive problem that will not get cheaper. Hydraulic oil analysis catches contamination and wear metals that a visual inspection cannot.
