Heavy trucks in the UAE work harder than their hour meters suggest. Sustained high ambient temperature, heavy loading and long haul distances between the Emirates and into Saudi Arabia put cooling systems, brakes and drivetrains under continuous load.
Cooling capacity is the first question. A truck specified for a temperate market is working with far less thermal margin here, and cooling-related derating and failures are the most common complaint from buyers who imported without checking. Retarders and engine braking matter for loaded descents and reduce brake wear substantially. Axle configuration should suit UAE load limits and the surfaces you actually run on — a truck configured for European axle weights may not be optimally configured here.
Chassis and frame for cracking and prior repair, particularly around suspension and body mounting points. Engine and transmission condition with oil analysis. Differentials and final drives. Brake system throughout, including the air system and its drying. Suspension, whether spring or air. Tyre condition and matching across axles. Body, tipping gear and hydraulics on tippers.
Then the documentation: mileage evidence, service history and — for a truck already in the UAE — registration, testing status and whether it will pass inspection in its current condition.
