Quick couplers

A quick coupler is the attachment that makes owning other attachments worthwhile. Without one, changing a bucket is a twenty-minute job with pins and a hammer; with one, it takes under a minute from the cab.

Hydraulic or mechanical

Hydraulic couplers change attachments from the cab in under a minute and are worth their premium on any machine that changes tools more than occasionally. Mechanical couplers still require the operator to leave the cab but are far quicker than pinning, and they cost considerably less.

If the machine will run a bucket, a breaker and a grapple across a working week, a hydraulic coupler repays itself quickly in avoided downtime.

Matching

Couplers are specific to machine class and to attachment pin dimensions — pin diameter and pin centre spacing both have to match. Send us the machine model and serial number and the attachments you intend to run, and we will confirm compatibility rather than approximate it. A coupler that nearly fits is not a coupler.

Safety

Coupler safety matters and is not a formality. Modern couplers include secondary locking systems because attachment release incidents are serious. When buying used, confirm the locking mechanism operates correctly, the safety systems are present and functional, and the coupler is not worn to the point of allowing play in the attachment. Play in a coupler is a warning, not a characteristic.
